Travel and Arrival Information
The City of Lagos is the Capital of Lagos State in the northern part of Nigeria.
Workshop participants are advised to arrive Lagos on Sunday 16th November, 2008. The workshop proper will begin on Monday 17th November at 9:00am prompt.
Flights to Lagos are available at all Airports in Nigeria on the following airlines; Arik Air, Virgin Nigeria IRS, Chanchangi, Aero Contractors, Bellviews, Airlines. Those arriving by air should reserve flights to Lagos ahead of time . Airport taxis are available from the airport to the Mainland Hotel at N2,000 – N3,000 (USD 18).
Participants arriving Lagos for the first time from other parts of the country by other means of public transport may be dropped at one of the following motor parks namely;
1) Ojota Motor Park – Located at the entrance of Lagos City , travellers coming from the North Western and North Centre, South South and South East part of the country such as Sokoto , Plateau, Bayelsa, and Enugu will be stopped here. There are taxis located inside and outside the park that will take you to the Mainland Hotel for about N1,500.00
2) Jibowu Motor Park(Yaba) – Located along Ikorodu road some distance to Yaba bus stop. Travellers that join any luxury bus from the eastern part of the country and Abuja will disembark here. There are taxi services run in conjunction with the transport companies that are available at the premises to convey participants to Mainland Hotel at the rate of N700.00
3) Iddo Terminal – Travellers who are desirous of joining station wagons from the Northern part of the country will be dropped at the Iddo terminal some distance from the Mainland Hotel. All the traveller has to do is to locate the hotel (Iddo Terminal is about 200m from the hotel).
4) Ijora Park – Travellers from the North Eastern part of the country that join luxurious buses will be stopped at Ijora park. Taxi fare from Ijora to Mainland Hotel is at the ate of N1,500.00.
Participants visiting Lagos for the first time are advised to hire taxis to their various destinations especially to the Mainland Hotel or University of Lagos.
ngNOG participants are advised to take taxis or newly introduced 'BRT (Bright Lane)' buses when going from one place to another within Lagos Metropolis.
In all cases, participants are advised to proceed to register at the earliest opportunity after their arrival.
Lagos like most parts of Nigeria experiences two seasons- Dry Harmattan characterized by hazy skyline and slightly reduced visibility which starts from mid November to February and the Rainy Season which commences from March to October.
Temperatures in Lagos during November can be as low as 25 degrees at night and 30 degrees Celsius during the day.
In all cases, participants are advised to proceed to register at the earliest opportunity after their arrival.
