OBAFEMI AWOLOWO COMMISSIONS MINI ASSEMBLY PLANT

This is to inform the Forum that Obafemi Awolowo University commissioned her mini assembly plant, the first in any African University, on 21st May 2006. The fund for its development was donated by the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC). This plant is not meant to compete with industry, rather it is to complement it as well as train students on all important considerations for any industry assembly process.

It will also act as an outsourcing unit for companies who want to
outsource some of their assembly items to OAU. These may not necessarily be computers alone. We already have a proposal from a computer assembly company. We are ready to provide services to other Institutions in computer assemblage.
