Call for Tutorial Presentations

The Nigerian Network Operators' Group (ngNOG) invites applications from individuals and organizations who wish to teach a tutorial between Saturday 22nd - Sunday 23rd November, 2008, at the 3rd ngNOG event at the University of Lagos.

Venue

The workshop and all tutorials would be held at the Center for Information Technology and Systems (CITS) of the University of Lagos from 17 - 23 November, 2008.

All Conferences would be held at the Afe Babalola Hall of the University of Lagos on Monday 24th - Tuesday 25th November, 2008.

About the Tutorials

Several tutorials will be offered from 1 - 2 days after the workshop and on the day before the ngNOG conference.

Tutorials are technical workshops which focus on a particular subject in-depth and are generally non-commercial in nature. Tutorials take place in a classroom-style environment, and may include a hands-on practical component. They are intended to offer advanced training relating to technology and best practices already deployed or soon to be deployed on networking and related services provisioning for ISP operations.

* Security Operations: NSP-Sec, DDoS, Security Operations, Anti-SPAM, Anti-Malware.
* Internet Exchange Point (IXP) Operations
* Technologies: Wireless, WiMax, DSL, Broadband access aggregation
* Content Management Development/eLearning
* Mailing list etiquette
* Standards Documentation

How to apply

Those interested in teaching a tutorial are invited to submit a proposal not later than 4th October, 2008.

We ask that the following information be sent in an email message to .

* speaker/presenter name and affiliation
* email address and phone number
* proposed title
* requested time allocation (for tutorial presentations: 30 minutes to half a day).
* an abstract of no more than 200 words
* permission to reproduce your presentation after the event, including permission to post it on the Forum website.

Funding and Support

The ngNOG event is not-for-profit and because limited funds are available, conference presenters and tutorial instructors are expected to cover their travel expenses. However, tutorial instructors or conference presenters are exempted from paying registration fees.
